Myth 1: Learning a foreign language is quick and easy.

It is easy to get the biggest disappointment of life for those who really believe that it is possible to learn Spanish or French in two to eight weeks. There is no any student who manages to learn something that would normally take years to master. Language learning is not also an easy task. One should spend a lot of time, be disciplined and make lots of efforts to learn language. Learning language only may be easy when one learns a few foreign key words or phrases so that he/she can find his way around the city when visiting different countries.

Myth 2: The best way to learn foreign language is going to foreign countries

In case one is in a foreign country, it doesn't mean he or she is sure to become a professional in the country's language. When forcing to speak a foreign country's language people often say incorrect sentences that always become an irritating habit. And sometimes this habit becomes almost impossible to correct. And still institutions and universities that specialize in language learning is still the most suitable place to master a foreign language.

Myth 3: Children learn languages more easily.

A lot of linguists believe and affirm that children begin learning a language at birth. However research detected that one's first language must be acquired by the age of 12 i.e. by the time a child enters puberty. The matter is that after puberty, it is impossible to learn language fully due to some neurological changes in the brain.

Myth 4: Pronunciation is not important.

Some people consider that it is not important to correct their pronunciation or that their pronunciation is already good enough what is even worst. It is worth considering that the way English is pronounced in the US and England are different. Real language learning considers the importance of proper accent and pronunciation in making conversations smoother and more pleasant. Furthermore, if one takes time to learn a foreign country's natural way of speaking, he or she will look more secure and learned, becoming more easily accepted by others.
